Job description
Overview
Join Canada Post as a Permanent Flexible Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier where your workplace is the open road. As a Permanent Flex employee, you are guaranteed 20 hours per week primarily during weekends, with potential to increase hours when extra shifts are available. Key Duties
- Efficiently sort, collect, and deliver mail items ensuring safety and punctuality
- Develop and retain thorough knowledge of local routes, customer locations, and mail receptacles
- Securely handle and transport mail to prevent loss or damage
- Process Canada Post products and services such as Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills
- Wear Canada Post identification visibly while on duty
- Lift and transport parcels weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg)
- Operate a motor vehicle safely under diverse weather and traffic conditions
Qualifications
- Valid permanent provincial driver's license (Class 5 or G)
- Safe driving record verified by submitting a recent driver's abstract
Work Locations and Schedule
The primary weekday work location is in Brossard at 10 Place du Commerce, while weekend operations are based out of Bridge, 225 Bridge Street, Montreal. Scheduled workdays include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours weekly. Additional workdays such as Monday and Tuesday are unscheduled, and Thursday and Wednesday are designated as rotation days off.
Vehicle Requirements
- Maintain a clean and safe driving record
- Possess valid provincial driver’s license
- Vehicle must have a minimum cargo space of 100 cubic feet (2832 liters)
- Equipped with a metal roof-top and power outlet for mounting Canada Post signage and flashing light
- Preferred vehicle includes a fifth door/hatchback for loading bulky items
- Provide and keep valid automobile liability insurance, informing insurer of vehicle use for employment
Additional Information
- Applicants residing within 75 km of the assigned Post Office are given preference
- Candidates must successfully complete an interview process
- Required documents upon selection include a recent driver's abstract dated within 30 days and a current resume
