Position Overview

The Payroll Specialist II role within the Dayforce Managed Team encompasses complete responsibility for the end-to-end payroll process for clients based in New Zealand. This position supports the entire employee lifecycle, including payroll, workforce management, benefits, and contact centre services, enabling customers to concentrate on their core operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere strictly to Dayforce's Code of Conduct, corporate values, policies, and procedures.
  • Follow all information security protocols for both Dayforce and clients, remaining compliant with established security standards and policies.
  • Manage the entire payroll lifecycle encompassing tax calculations, benefits administration, maintaining accuracy, timeliness, reconciliation, and transmitting data correctly.
  • Process payroll adjustments, tax documentation, and payments for assigned clients accurately within prescribed timelines.
  • Conduct quality control checks and internal audits to sustain minimal error rates and uphold high accuracy standards.
  • Collaborate with various teams to address payroll issues and employee inquiries while delivering daily support as a subject matter expert.
  • Provide payroll services consistent with Dayforce agreements, legislative mandates, and client-specific requirements.
  • Review and update standard operating procedures regularly.
  • Embrace accountability by taking end-to-end ownership of payroll deliverables.
  • Maintain client-related information within case management systems ensuring completeness and timeliness of documentation.
  • Lead monthly and year-end payroll audits and processing proactively.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for process enhancement and take proactive measures to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by consistently delivering exceptional service.
  • Participate effectively as a contributing team member.
  • Identify and escalate risks promptly when necessary.
  • Achieve or surpass Key Performance Indicators established for the role.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to remedy process deficiencies.
  • Handle client complaints proactively ensuring swift and effective resolution.
  • Complete assigned tasks following agreed schedules, procedures, and quality standard requirements.
  • Engage in continuous training and professional development activities.
  • Openly seek and apply feedback to foster ongoing skill enhancement and career growth.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a tertiary qualification such as a degree or associate degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting/Taxation, or a related field.
  • At least three years of comprehensive payroll experience within New Zealand, demonstrating detailed knowledge of local laws and compliance.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with the Dayforce aPay system or equivalent payroll software.
  • Relevant industry certifications or willingness to pursue certification after employment commencement.
  • Proven dedication to lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to explain technical information clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced setting with stringent deadlines.
  • Self-driven and proactive work approach with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills to handle multifaceted tasks simultaneously.
