Role Summary
The Payroll Coordinator position is a fully remote contractual assignment tasked with overseeing payroll accuracy and timeliness for specified teams or divisions. Primary duties include preparing payroll runs, validating timekeeping inputs, and ensuring correct deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings. Maintaining payroll records, performing payroll account reconciliations, and collaborating with finance and HR to address any payroll discrepancies or queries are essential elements. The role also involves managing employee pay-related inquiries, supporting audit and compliance processes, and contributing to continuous enhancements in payroll operations and documentation. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail, high confidentiality standards, and the ability to work autonomously across various time zones and stakeholder groups.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience administering and processing recurring payroll cycles.
- Understanding of garnishments and payroll tax regulations, with correct application practices.
- Basic accounting knowledge, including reconciliation skills and awareness of payroll impacts on financial statements.
- Competency with payroll software, HRIS platforms, spreadsheet applications, and accurate data entry.
- Strong analytical skills combined with effective organization and time management to ensure accuracy.
- Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to data privacy and security requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for coordination with remote, multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior roles in payroll, finance, or HR support preferred; experience with multi-state or international payroll processes is an advantage.
- Educational background including an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or comparable work experience.
