Role Overview
Southmedic Inc. is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator in Barrie, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for running payroll accurately and on time, while also supporting employee benefits and retirement administration.
Key Duties
- Carry out regular payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and commission-based employees, coordinating with area leaders to confirm timesheets and help ensure payroll is completed without errors.
- Administer group benefits and retirement plans, partnering with external providers and administrators to support employee enrolment and resolve issues.
- Assist with payroll- and finance-related work, including year-end payroll tasks and requests from business and government bodies, while maintaining strong accuracy and promptness.
- Serve as the main contact for employees with payroll and benefits questions, providing professional, helpful customer support.
Experience and Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of payroll leadership experience is required, ideally in a manufacturing environment with more than 500 employees.
- A formal payroll certification is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with UKG Pro is required, including at least 3 years using the system and understanding its administrative functions to keep records current.
- Applicants should be committed to accurate, timely payroll as a key part of the employee experience.
- Strong detail orientation is important, along with the ability to spot and correct issues before they affect employees.
- Confidentiality and integrity are essential when handling sensitive employee information.
- Ongoing learning is expected, including participation in training and education such as UKG courses and Canadian Payroll Association programs.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers an annual salary of $65,000 to $80,000.
