Role Overview
The Payroll Analyst II based in Belgrade is responsible for delivering precise and timely payroll processing while ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves maintaining payroll data, troubleshooting discrepancies, generating reports, supporting audits, and coordinating with HR and Finance to manage employee deductions, benefits, and tax filings. A meticulous approach and expertise in payroll systems are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle complete payroll processing for Serbia and selected European countries utilizing Workday and additional payroll platforms, ensuring accuracy and promptness.
- Validate and reconcile payroll entries such as worked hours, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and offer guidance to employees regarding payroll issues.
- Work closely with HR to maintain accurate employee records in Workday.
- Prepare payroll audit documentation and assist in resolving any identified discrepancies.
- Manage off-cycle exception payments as needed.
- Ensure accurate calculation and availability of net pay funding.
- Coordinate with payroll vendors to administer wage assignments and garnishments.
- Conduct pre- and post-payroll audits to verify accurate employee payments and correct tax submissions.
- Prepare general ledger postings and reconciliations for management approval.
- Identify and resolve payment discrepancies, escalating compliance concerns to the Payroll Manager.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive personal data including social security numbers and banking details.
- Contribute to HR and payroll-related projects, suggesting improvements to operations, system functionality, and employee experience.
- Keep abreast of legislative payroll changes and assist in updating payroll processes accordingly.
- Handle additional tasks such as preparing documentation for sick leave government reimbursements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent preferred.
- At least 2 years experience in payroll processing for EMEA countries, mainly Serbia, working with Workday and other payroll systems.
- Proficient intermediate Excel skills, including V-lookups and pivot tables.
- Professional proficiency in English language communication.
- Skillful use of payroll and HR software tools.
- Strong detail orientation and numerical accuracy.
- Excellent organizational abilities and time management skills to effectively prioritize deadlines.
- Sharp problem-solving and analytical skills to address payroll-related issues.
- Professional demeanor and strong communication skills to clearly explain complex payroll topics to employees.
