Operations & Maintenance Manager – Water, Wastewater & Desalination Projects

Job Overview

Nafoud Al Athereia Contracting Company is looking to hire an experienced Operations & Maintenance Manager specialized in water, wastewater, and desalination projects within Saudi Arabia. The role is based in Riyadh with responsibilities extending to various project sites around the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants, desalination facilities, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
• Create and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to ensure efficient plant functioning.
• Guarantee uninterrupted, safe, and efficient operation of all plants, machinery, and utility systems.
• Track operational metrics including maintenance schedules, breakdown incidents, response duration, and asset dependability.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams comprising engineers, supervisors, technical staff, and operators engaged in maintenance and operations.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual KPIs, SLAs, operational objectives, and client expectations.
• Analyze operational data and confirm adherence to technical specifications and applicable standards.
• Direct emergency maintenance actions and devise contingency and recovery methodologies.
• Manage allocation and utilization of manpower, spare parts, consumables, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to streamline project execution.
• Supervise budgeting activities related to project operations and maintenance, controlling costs effectively.
• Prepare regular performance evaluations, maintenance outlines, operation dashboards, and technical advisories.
• Ensure strict observance of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Identify frequent operational challenges and implement sustainable corrective and preventive measures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants, networks, and desalination components.
• Proven track record in handling operations and maintenance projects for water, wastewater, or desalination sectors.
• Deep understanding of desalination facility processes and varied wastewater treatment methodologies.
• Ability to develop maintenance timetables, operational schemes, technical documentation, and performance reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, along with computerized maintenance and reporting tools.
• Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and team management capabilities.
• Previous working experience in Saudi Arabia is advantageous.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers is preferred.
• Possession of a valid Saudi driving license is considered a plus.
