Key responsibilities

• Deliver broad, high-quality nursing care by following the nursing process, with a strong focus on direct patient support.
• Provide professional care under the guidance of the Head Nurse and/or Duty Manager.
• Be prepared to work across different shifts as needed, including general and critical care units, operating rooms, labor and delivery areas, emergency rooms, and clinics at Medcare Hospital.
• Work scheduled hours as assigned, which may include on-call duties.
• Manage patient care and related clinical activities.
• Carry out complete initial and continuing assessments of a patient’s physical and psychosocial condition, considering age-specific needs.
• Identify educational needs of patients and families, and assess their readiness to learn using suitable resources.
• Evaluate discharge planning requirements for patients and families with the help of appropriate resources.
• Work with patients, families, and the wider care team to create and revise a plan of care aligned to the medical diagnosis and the patient’s changing physical, psychosocial, and age-related needs.
• Set practical, measurable, and culturally appropriate goals, and determine nursing actions to achieve them.
• Organize and prioritize patient care tasks on a daily basis.
• Work in line with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Recognize when a patient’s needs exceed personal scope and seek support from the right resources.
• Contribute to the creation and review of patient care standards, policies, and procedures, and take part in the Interdisciplinary Quality Assessment & Improvement Program.
• Take ownership of ongoing professional growth and keep nursing knowledge current for the practice area.
• Use computer systems and technology as required for the role.
• Follow infection control and safety practices, take corrective action when needed, and remain alert to risks.
• Join fire drills, disaster drills, and mock code exercises.
• Treat patients and families with empathy, care, and respect.
