Role overview
Belmond is looking for a highly organised Merchandise Manager with a strong creative eye to join its Creative team in London. The position supports the creation and rollout of merchandise and branded goods across Belmond’s international portfolio, helping each property brand feel distinctive, desirable and true to its setting while still aligning with Belmond’s quality and design standards.
This role blends creativity, product development and project coordination. You will work across properties, divisions, suppliers and production partners to bring to life everything from property-branded items and guest-facing touchpoints to limited-edition collections developed with influential voices in fashion and design.
Product development and management
- Set up clear standards, selection rules and quality checks for property-branded merchandise so items across Belmond’s retail spaces feel elevated, consistent and place-specific.
- Oversee products from initial concept through sourcing, sampling, refinements and final production, while gathering and actioning input from designers, vendors and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain effective supplier and manufacturing relationships, including handling quotations, samples, production timelines, quality reviews and delivery needs.
- Partner with divisional and property teams to understand their needs, recommend product assortments and identify the right suppliers and production routes.
- Keep close attention on materials, finishes, build quality, typography, colour and fine details so every item meets Belmond’s expected standard.
Brand merchandise development
- Support the creation of capsule collections with respected tastemakers, designers and creative collaborators, turning ideas into products that are both appealing and commercially workable.
- Help express Belmond’s Slow Luxury experience through memorable property brands and guest-facing moments.
- Work with the creative team on property brand systems, including guidelines, toolkits, logos, emblems and brand codes, and ensure they are used consistently and imaginatively.
- Bring an informed view of contemporary fashion, design, hospitality and culture to help create products that generate interest, conversation and wider brand appeal.
- Contribute to communication ideas that showcase collaborations effectively through storytelling and content.
Qualifications and experience
- Background in merchandise, product development, buying, sourcing, production or a similar creative function, preferably within luxury, hospitality, fashion, design or lifestyle.
- Strong aesthetic judgment, good taste and an understanding of how design and branding influence desirability.
- Hands-on experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, producers and creative collaborators during the product development cycle.
- Working knowledge of materials, production methods, sampling, costing and quality control.
- Excellent planning and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple timelines, workstreams and stakeholders at once.
- Comfortable collaborating across properties, business divisions and external partners.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to balance brand value, creativity and product quality.
- Interest in designers, artists, tastemakers and cultural collaborators across fashion, art and design.
Benefits
Belmond offers a supportive culture built on kindness, active listening and meaningful connections with colleagues and guests. The package includes complimentary and preferred-rate experiences at iconic destinations, private medical insurance and dental cover, a group pension plan, 25 days of annual leave excluding UK bank holidays, lifestyle and employee assistance programmes, and onsite gym facilities.
