About Yeo & Yeo Medical Billing & Consulting
Established in 1998 as part of Yeo & Yeo CPAs & Advisors, our Medical Billing & Consulting branch provides expert medical billing and practice management solutions. Our focus is to help clients maximize reimbursements and stay abreast of evolving Medicare, insurance carrier regulations, and coding standards including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10.
Our team includes highly knowledgeable Certified Professional Coders who assist in selecting the correct diagnostic and procedure codes. Role Overview
The Medical Coder will be responsible for reviewing medical records and verifying coding accuracy by assigning ICD-10 and CPT codes across multiple specialties. This role serves as a coding expert and resource to billing staff, demanding strong communication and customer service to maintain office efficiency and productivity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate clinical documentation to assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes following standard coding guidelines for diverse specialties.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding and documentation requirements and guidelines.
- Provide coding support and guidance to staff members.
- Perform select medical billing functions as needed.
- Educate client providers and staff on documentation and coding standards to ensure compliance with federal and state rules.
- Offer actionable recommendations to improve documentation accuracy and coding practices for clients.
- Deliver courteous and timely assistance to clients.
- Achieve or surpass goals established in annual performance reviews.
- Develop proficiency in company technology, including paperless systems and workflow tools.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform all job tasks.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential from AAPC.
- Proficiency in coding conditions and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy.
- Understanding of HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer systems and requirements.
- Competency with computers, software, and 10-key calculators.
- Effective communication skills for resolving insurance payer issues via phone.
- Strong customer service skills for engaging with patients and diverse family members concerning medical claims and payments.
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Problem-solving capabilities to handle discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated skills in relationship building with clinical and non-clinical personnel.

- Certification as a Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).
