Role Summary
This internship is based in Wairakei, Taupo, and is scheduled for the 2026/27 summer period. It offers hands-on exposure to the renewable energy sector and an opportunity to build practical engineering experience across several functions and business areas.
What You Will Be Involved In
- Creating and updating 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
- Assisting with estimating and project activities for geothermal steam-field and hydropower mechanical engineering work.
- Supporting field maintenance operations and participating in power station shutdown work.
About You
The role suits someone who is genuinely interested in renewable energy and wants to take part in the complete project lifecycle. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between office-based planning and design tasks, coordination with workshops, and on-site field work.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree, with Years 2 to 3 preferred.
- A full New Zealand driver licence.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and solid problem-solving ability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Competence with Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of CAD software, ideally SolidWorks or Bentley MicroStation.
