Job description

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Design Lead at Flint, you'll spearhead the design and development of mechanical systems tailored for cutting-edge battery technologies, emphasizing reliability, performance, and scalability. This role prioritizes practical expertise demonstrated through hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical system design cycles from initial concept, prototyping, through to manufacturing, ensuring smooth integration with electrical and electrochemical elements.
  • Work cross-functionally to align mechanical designs with targets for performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Create and refine 3D models, CAD drawings, and schematics maintaining compliance with industry standards and safety norms.
  • Conduct structural analyses and testing to validate mechanical robustness and product reliability under practical conditions.
  • Innovate and implement solutions for thermal management, system packaging, and efficiency improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff fostering teamwork and encouraging creative solutions.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated mechanical design experience particularly in the energy, battery, or advanced technology sectors with focus on hardware systems.
  • Proficiency using CAD programs such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, along with simulation tools for mechanical assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems design, structural integrity principles, thermal regulation, and material selection for high-performance applications.
  • Skill in designing for manufacturability balancing cost, scalability, and time-to-market considerations.
  • Background in prototype development, iterative testing, and design optimization informed by empirical data.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude and a drive to innovate within energy storage technologies.
  • Excellent communication talents to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
  • Genuine commitment to sustainability with an eagerness to propel clean energy advancements.
