About the Role
This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, part of Minor Hotels, an international hotel group managing over 530 properties worldwide. The role involves maintaining and supervising repair and upkeep activities for marine and land vehicles used within the resort, ensuring compliance with standards and optimizing vehicle operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and update records related to all marine vehicles at the resort.
- Oversee repairs and maintenance for a variety of watercraft, including speedboats, dive boats, barges, whalers, rowing boats, pontoons, and dhonis.
- Attend to requested repairs of land vehicles such as golf carts and buggies.
- Maintain detailed service and repair logs including spare parts usage to ensure equipment is functioning correctly.
- Handle repair and maintenance requests for powerhouse generators as needed.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs regularly to ensure vehicle reliability.
- Perform electric arc and oxy-acetylene welding when required and capable.
- Conduct minor fabrication and metalwork tasks as necessary.
- Recommend enhancements to boost operational efficiency and system economy.
- Implement resort engineering policies and standards diligently.
- Coordinate maintenance scheduling and respond to work requests promptly, providing feedback to respective departments upon completion.
- Contribute to fire prevention training programs and safety initiatives as a team member.
- Maintain accurate records concerning marine vehicle operations and the engineering team's duties.
- Ensure housekeeping standards in engineering and marine workshop areas are upheld.
- Support inventory management by assisting the storekeeper with spare parts ordering.
- Supervise and collaborate closely with engineering staff, assisting Assistant Chief Engineer in daily work follow-ups.
- Participate in annual budget reviews and offer input regarding engineering expenses with the Chief Engineer.
- Promote workplace safety and ensure adherence to fire, hygiene, and environmental policies.
- Perform general repair and maintenance across resort premises, including new constructions or extensions.
- Handle daily marine meter readings and report anomalies promptly.
- Keep issued tools in good working order and maintain comprehensive daily activity records.
- Respond appropriately to duty phone requests and attend daily briefings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Collaborate with resort contractors and other departments for specialized projects, functions, and events.
- Participate as a member of the resort’s fire brigade team when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Preferably male candidate.
- Two to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance, particularly with marine and land vehicles.
- Proficient in English communication.
- Strong technical skills applicable to vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Professional and pleasant demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
