Job description
Overview
The Marine Construction Director plays a pivotal role in strategically and operationally steering marine and coastal construction initiatives. The role demands ensuring projects are executed safely, adhere strictly to schedules and budgets, and align with all technical, quality, environmental, and contractual mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage marine infrastructure projects such as ports, harbors, jetties, piers, quay walls, breakwaters, seawalls, dredging, reclamation, piling, and waterfront constructions.
- Formulate construction strategies, methodologies, detailed schedules, resource and execution plans for seamless project delivery.
- Evaluate technical designs, construction techniques, shop drawings, temporary constructions, and engineer submissions critically.
- Recognize and control risks spanning technical, operational, commercial, environmental, and safety aspects.
- Guarantee compliance with health, safety, environment (HSE) protocols, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), environmental standards, project specs, and relevant marine regulations.
- Supervise marine equipment usage and operations, including barges, cranes, dredgers, tugboats, piling rigs, and workboats.
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or Construction Engineering.
- Bring over two decades of construction expertise, extensively focused on marine and coastal infrastructure.
- Accumulate at least 8 to 10 years holding senior management or directorial roles specifically in marine construction.
- Demonstrate proven leadership in managing expansive marine construction ventures.
- Exhibit in-depth knowledge of dredging, reclamation processes, piling, marine foundation works, concrete applications, coastal defense, and underwater construction techniques.
