Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our Toronto team immediately. This role is key in developing and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment dedicated to producing exhaust systems. It requires working closely within a team environment to support the design and manufacturing operations for our client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Create new processes and procedures to ensure efficient production transitions.
- Provide comprehensive engineering support to the production team, including packaging, metal cutting, tube bending, MIG and resistance welding, and rolling operations.
- Innovate and implement new manufacturing processes and equipment to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve customer-related issues and develop effective solutions.
- Lead continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and activities within the manufacturing environment.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for project quotations.
- Head cross-functional teams for continuous improvement of both existing and new products.
- Drive and facilitate 5S and Lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Support commissioning and validation of newly acquired equipment through engineering expertise.
- Conduct thorough product design reviews ensuring adherence to internal Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/A) standards.
- Partner with product design teams to develop and refine DFM/A design rules.
- Engage in strategic discussions to shape product roadmaps incorporating new manufacturing processes.
- Participate actively in design reviews and feasibility analyses with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Maintain clear communication and coordination with other departments and suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is mandatory.
- A minimum of 10 years' professional experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Hands-on experience with metal stamping, arc welding, resistance welding, and tube forming techniques.
- Proficiency or strong familiarity with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems is preferred.
- Solid knowledge and experience in packaging operations.
- Excellent understanding of welding and metal forming processes.
- Expertise in process optimization and implementing cost reduction strategies.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
