Overview
Georgetown University operates two campuses in Washington, D.C., offering rigorous academic programs and rich opportunities for engagement with the local community. The Department of Human Science seeks a Laboratory Technician/Assistant to support faculty in teaching laboratory courses and research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize materials and laboratory spaces for courses including Human Biology, Microbiology, Molecular and Cellular Health Fundamentals, and Genetics.
- Assist students during laboratory sessions by providing guidance and supplemental instruction.
- Contribute to faculty-led research projects outside classroom hours.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. minimum) with at least one year experience in biology or microbiology laboratory environments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with proficient math skills.
- Preferred experience includes preparing stock solutions, performing standard molecular biology techniques, tissue culture handling, and identifying bacterial and fungal cultures.
Work Conditions
This is an on-campus role requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Some work may occur outside standard hours.
Compensation
The expected salary range is from $18.40 to $27.33 per hour, adjusted based on qualifications and experience.
