Kitchen Helper

Job Overview

This is a permanent full-time position based in a rural setting in Magnetawan, Ontario. The role requires proficiency in English and offers 30 to 44 working hours weekly. No formal degree or diploma is required; however, prior experience in a similar setting is considered beneficial.

Key Duties

• Transport clean dishes, flatware, and other necessary items to service areas; assist in setting tables.
• Sanitize equipment including dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposals.
• Load dishware into buspans and trays; operate dishwashing machinery to clean utensils and glassware.
• Manually wash and sanitize dishes; scour pots and pans for cleanliness.
• Prepare, warm, and complete simple food preparations, including stocking refrigerators and salad bars.
• Utilize both manual and electric kitchen appliances for peeling, slicing, and trimming food items.
• Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing kitchen surfaces, cupboards, appliances, and equipment.
• Handle storage of cleaning products safely; receive and organize supplies in storage areas such as refrigerators and freezers.
• Manage waste disposal by removing kitchen garbage and trash regularly.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors through sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing.
• Assist with washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.

Equipment Handling

• Experience using conventional ovens, deep fryers, and grills is required.

Transport & Location Details

• Candidate must have personal transportation since public transit is not available.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• The role demands work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with repetitive tasks and standing for long durations.
• Handling heavy loads up to 23 kilograms (50 lbs) is necessary.
• Capability to work efficiently under pressure is essential.
