Role Overview

This volunteer position as a Junior Software Engineer is based in Bala-Cynwyd, PA, offering a hybrid working model with flexibility for some remote work. Candidates should reside within commuting distance of Philadelphia.

The Junior Software Engineer will participate in designing, building, and maintaining software components that power AIHealthCongress' digital platforms. Key tasks include back-end feature development, writing clean and effective code, debugging, integrating web services with data sources, collaborating with senior engineers, testing, and documenting software. The role provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience, enhance technical skills, build a portfolio, and contribute to advancing AI-driven healthcare solutions.

Candidate Profile

• Basic understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Experience in software development, proficient in at least one modern programming language like Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Knowledge of back-end web development concepts including API creation, server-side logic, and database interactions.
• Ability to apply object-oriented programming methods to produce modular and maintainable code.
• Interest in healthcare technology, AI, or digital health with a strong desire to learn and create meaningful contributions within a mission-driven team.
• Strong communication skills and the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative, hybrid environment.
• Preferred enrollment or degree completion in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and basic testing techniques is an advantage.
