Role overview
CelticQA Solutions is looking for a Junior QA Engineer to join its software quality team. The company works with clients across the software delivery lifecycle, supporting projects at different stages and aiming to improve quality, speed, and business value. The team is collaborative, motivated, and made up of QA professionals with diverse experience.
Reporting line
This position reports to a Lead QA Analyst or Senior QA Analyst.
Location and work setup
The role is remote in a company that follows a remote working model. The listed locations are Atlanta, Georgia, USA and Dundalk, Ireland. For candidates in the United States, the preferred time zone is Eastern Time (EST).
What you'll do
- Study business needs and technical documents to identify suitable test coverage.
- Prepare clear manual test scripts and detailed test cases.
- Run manual test cases, review the outcomes, and document test reports.
- Build test plans and outline the steps needed for manual testing.
- Log defects discovered during testing and coordinate with developers to help close them quickly.
- Gain familiarity with different testing approaches and use them where appropriate for client work.
- Evaluate whether applications are ready for release by comparing test results against requirements and observed performance.
- Support QA automation efforts by working alongside automation consultants.
What we're looking for
- 1 to 2 years of experience in software testing and quality assurance is preferred.
- Hands-on experience creating test plans, test cases, and defect reports.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Exposure to test management tools, test automation, and database tools is preferred.
- Strong project management ability, including communicating changes and progress while delivering work on time and within budget.
- ISTQB certification or a similar credential is considered an advantage.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- A practical, adaptable, and proactive approach to getting work done.
- Strong teamwork, professionalism, initiative, and a quality-first mindset.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Good interpersonal skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.
- Valid work permit or U.S. citizenship is required.
