Overview
This entry-level position involves supporting daily network operations under close supervision within a telecommunications environment. The role focuses on operational support involving several telecom network equipment and ensuring optimal network uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and supervise network tools and equipment maintenance.
- Support and carry out network equipment installations as needed.
- Manage and monitor daily site activities to ensure routine operational flow.
- Work proactively to meet and sustain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with minimal disruption.
- Collaborate with IRU partners for route coordination and COLO IP-related infrastructure tasks.
- Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to address network issues and provide updates on root cause analysis and plan of action.
- Engage with vendors and IRU partners to enhance fiber network uptime.
- Manage team coordination and material logistics.
- Follow compliance processes using applications such as FSM and SNOW for daily operational activities.
- Coordinate fiber fault resolution with external partners and escalate issues when necessary.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Troubleshooting of telecom equipment like DWDM (Ciena, Tejas, Nokia, Huawei) and SDH systems.
- Perform software upgrades and coordinate with Network Operations Center (NOC).
- Conduct optical fiber testing and fault analysis using OTDR and LSPM technologies.
- Execute fiber splicing using splicing machines such as Fujikura.
- Understand infrastructure components including SMPS, Delta/Emerson battery banks (lithium and VRLA), diesel generators, PAC, and infrastructure alarm testing, especially in IP Colo sites like ASECND, ATC, VIL.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate degree.
- Experience between 7 and 18 months in relevant domain.
