Junior Computer Vision Data Scientist

About the Role

We are partnering with a prominent healthcare client seeking a Junior Computer Vision Data Scientist for a 7-month contract position based in Westbrook, Maine, with a hybrid work arrangement. This opportunity involves collaborating closely with engineering teams, clinical experts, and business stakeholders to create and deploy advanced embedded computer vision algorithms that support veterinary diagnostic platforms. The role demands a proactive individual capable of rapidly delivering impactful outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy embedded computer vision algorithms combining deep learning and traditional computer vision techniques tailored for veterinary diagnostics.
• Apply strong software development practices to write scalable, maintainable, and efficient code ensuring high system performance and reliability.
• Optimize algorithms for real-time execution on embedded systems equipped with NVIDIA GPUs, facilitating high-speed processing and inference.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience, including strong academic projects or hands-on experience in deep learning and computer vision.
• Proficiency in Python programming, familiar with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, and numerical libraries like NumPy.
• Solid foundation in software engineering principles, including testing, performance tuning, and scalable code delivery.
• Ability to work independently, efficiently manage time, and achieve project milestones without extensive supervision.
• Strong communication skills to effectively report progress and challenges to the project team.

Preferred but Not Required

• Experience with optimizing NVIDIA embedded GPU systems.
• Knowledge of microscopy, digital cytology, or digital pathology imaging fields.
• Exposure to Databricks or AWS cloud services for data management and deployment.

Additional Information

• This is a W2 contractor role only; candidates requiring C2C or 1099 arrangements will not be considered.
• Immediate availability to start is preferred.
• Hourly compensation ranges from $40 to $43.
