About the role
WSP New Zealand is looking for an Intermediate Ecologist to join its Auckland team. This role is suited to an ecology professional who wants to grow further, contribute to meaningful work, and bring strong field capability across both land-based and freshwater or aquatic environments.
The position offers the chance to work on projects that help shape infrastructure and environmental outcomes across Auckland and other parts of New Zealand. The work spans blue-green networks, wind and solar developments, industrial sites, transport corridors, water quality initiatives, wetland establishment, and stream restoration.

What you’ll be doing
- Contribute ecological input to infrastructure, renewable energy, and stream-related projects.
- Support delivery of projects across terrestrial and aquatic settings.
- Participate in work linked to blue-green networks, solar and wind farms, industrial development, highways, water quality improvement, wetland creation, and stream restoration.
- Work as part of a collaborative team delivering infrastructure outcomes for Auckland and wider New Zealand.
What we’re looking for
- A background in ecology or biology at MSc level.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in ecological work, especially within infrastructure, renewable energy, and stream environments.
- Consulting experience is preferred.
- Project management experience or formal training would be an advantage.
- A creative, practical, and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- A current clean driver’s licence.
