Position Overview

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is seeking a permanent full-time Information Systems Technologist to provide comprehensive support for the Board's technology infrastructure across all school locations and the Board office. This role entails installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, upgrading, and supporting endpoint devices, classroom and administrative technology, applications, peripherals, and interconnected network systems. In addition, the incumbent will respond to technical concerns, document solutions, support technology lifecycle activities, assist end users, and investigate new technological solutions for emerging challenges.

Primary Duties

  • Deliver on-site technical assistance to staff and authorized users utilizing approved service tools.
  • Effectively diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, operating systems, connectivity, and applications.
  • Install, configure, deploy, sustain, upgrade, and support Board-owned endpoint devices, peripherals, classroom technology, and sanctioned software applications.
  • Provide support for current Microsoft, Google, ChromeOS, Apple, Windows, macOS, iPadOS, and cloud-based productivity tools.
  • Conduct research, testing, and offer recommendations to enhance technology solutions, service delivery, and minimize recurring problems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of service requests, troubleshooting procedures, resolutions, and technical protocols.
  • Assist in managing technology inventory, asset tracking, device lifecycle management, warranty handling, and repair workflows.
  • Support compliance with cybersecurity measures, privacy policies, accessibility standards, acceptable use guidelines, and Board's technology procedures.
  • Offer user support, guidance, and training in a professional, clear, and customer-focused manner.
  • Collaborate with IT services personnel, school administrators, vendors, and end users to advance technology priorities for the Board.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Possession of a two-year post-secondary diploma in Information Technology, Computer Systems Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related areas.
  • At least three years of relevant technical support experience within a networked, enterprise, educational, or similarly complex setting.
  • Proven experience supporting endpoint devices, operating systems, productivity platforms, classroom technology, peripherals, and network-connected systems.
  • Certification in relevant industry credentials or the pursuit thereof is advantageous (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Cisco, cybersecurity, endpoint management, or ITIL 4 Foundation).
  • Having a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver's License and regular vehicle access is mandatory.

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Practical knowledge of endpoint hardware, operating systems, applications, web browsers, printers, classroom technology, mobile devices, and networked environments.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi networking concepts, account access, network printing, remote support utilities, endpoint security practices, and safe technology usage.

Additional Information

  • Annual salary ranges between $51,499 and $68,548 inclusive of Market Value Adjustment (MVA), subject to the applicable collective agreement.
