About the Role
We are seeking a skilled In Vivo Technician to join our Precision Research Model team at our Rensselaer, NY facility. This position offers a meaningful career path for individuals experienced in laboratory procedures or animal husbandry, with strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
Compensation: The starting pay is $22 per hour. Actual pay may vary due to factors such as geographic location, prior experience, education, training, and local market conditions. The upper limit of the salary range is not guaranteed.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Administer in vivo bio-methods including intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), subcutaneous (SQ) injections, cell preparation, blood collection, and tissue harvesting.
- Conduct animal husbandry across different housing setups.
- Follow detailed project protocols such as breeding diagrams and Project Charters accurately.
- Maintain comprehensive records within various databases, documenting all procedures, sample collections, shipments, and transfers.
- Work independently while ensuring scientific and technical quality, meeting deadlines, and submitting reports on results.
- Participate in rotating weekend and holiday animal colony checks, monitoring feed, water, post-surgery status, and other non-surgical care tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent technical experience.
- Certifications such as AALAS, Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) are preferred.
- At least two years of relevant experience demonstrated through work requiring specialized training and independent problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication skills across multiple organizational levels.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Physical tasks include climbing, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, machinery, occupational hazards requiring safeguards, and environmental conditions such as temperature extremes, strong odors, or noise.
