Ignition SCADA Developer

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled professional to design and develop robust SCADA applications leveraging Ignition Designer, including Perspective and Vision modules. The role involves configuring and managing Ignition Gateway with a focus on security, redundancy, and optimizing performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Tag Providers, Tag Historian, Alarm Pipelines, and Transaction Groups within Ignition SCADA systems.
• Integrate Ignition platforms with field devices such as PLCs, RTUs, and flow computers, utilizing communication protocols including Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, MQTT, and DNP3.
• Implement solutions for real-time data collection, event logging, and historian integration to support operational visibility and compliance needs.
• Develop customized logic and enhance user interfaces through Ignition scripting using Python/Jython.
• Expand Ignition functionality by utilizing Web Services (REST/SOAP) and the Ignition Software Development Kit (SDK).
• Create custom modules or extensions when required using the Ignition Module SDK.
• Architect secure and scalable SCADA systems following standards such as ISA95, ISA88, and IEC 62443, ensuring cybersecurity best practices and data integrity.
• Collaborate across automation, IT, and operational departments to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and user guides, and conduct training sessions or knowledge transfers for stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in disciplines like Instrumentation, Control, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Possesses 5 to 8 years of practical experience with Ignition SCADA covering Gateway configuration, Designer functionalities, and scripting.
• Certified Gold by Inductive Automation.
• Experience with other SCADA platforms such as Wonderware InTouch, CygNet, or AVEVA Enterprise is advantageous.
• Strong grasp of SCADA architecture principles, object-oriented design, and industrial automation processes.
• Proficient in Python/Jython programming, SQL query language, and Ignition Expression Language.
• Familiarity with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills are essential.

Eligibility & Education

Applicants should hold at minimum a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any relevant engineering discipline.
