Role Overview

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Specialist will play a key role in assisting local management to build and sustain a robust HSE culture at the worksite. This position focuses on embedding HSE policies into daily operations and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance managerial understanding and integration of HSE policies and ensure they form a core part of management’s goals and duties.
  • Support line managers in implementing the HSE Management System, monitoring objectives, collaborating with contractors and agencies for HSE compliance, assessing risks, and developing appropriate local procedures and instructions.
  • Oversee preparation and tracking of HSE plans detailing system implementation at the location level, and conduct compliance audits and self-assessments.
  • Provide advice on corrective measures to management when non-compliance or risks are identified.
  • Organize and participate in personnel screening and HSE training sessions.
  • Stay updated with the latest HSE documentation and training resources, ensuring management is informed.
  • Maintain current and accessible HSE documentation onsite.
  • Advise management regarding compliance with SLB standards and local regulations.
  • Monitor HSE reporting, facilitate Leadership Performance Team meetings, and conduct HSE audits.
  • Assist line management with failure and accident investigations.
  • Promote high HSE awareness through communication, training and encouraging active participation in HSE programs.
  • Suggest enhancements to improve the HSE program.
  • Analyze and report on HSE trends within the location.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Between 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar HSE role.
  • A university degree in a Health, Safety, and Environment related discipline.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and spoken English proficiency.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Quick learner with the capacity to apply new knowledge practically.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and self-motivation.
  • Adherence to company policies including personnel, quality systems, and QHSE standards.
  • Experience within the energy sector is advantageous.
