Position Overview
The Background Adjudicator plays a crucial role in examining and assessing pre-employment background checks for potential employees in line with company policy and pertinent federal, state, and regulatory standards. This position supports the recruitment process by ensuring thorough, impartial evaluations, upholding confidentiality, and promoting a positive experience for candidates. The ideal candidate will exhibit precision, professionalism, good judgment, and a dedication to equitable hiring procedures while handling sensitive data responsibly.
Key Duties
- Conduct detailed reviews of background screening outcomes, such as criminal records, employment and education verification, and other related pre-employment assessments.
- Consistently apply the company's adjudication protocols to decide on candidate eligibility.
- Detect inconsistencies or missing information and liaise with background screening providers, recruiters, or applicants to resolve issues.
- Maintain precise records of adjudication results.
- Ensure compliance with laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and other relevant regulations.
- Handle confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism.
- Address queries from internal teams about background checks and adjudication decisions.
- Meet predefined service level agreements with accuracy.
- Refer complex or high-risk cases to senior adjudicators or management when necessary.
- Engage in ongoing training and improvement efforts to stay updated on compliance and best practices.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least one year of experience in Human Resources.
- Minimum of one year working in onboarding compliance.
- Experience in customer service, administration, compliance, or HR roles.
- Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
- Effective written and oral communication abilities.
- Capability to juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise mature judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
- Background in reviewing and processing background checks within HR.
- Experience with case management tools or background screening software.
- Understanding of employment laws and regulatory requirements is advantageous.
