Role overview
Oceania is hiring a Healthcare Assistant for Duart Village in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. This position is suited to someone who values compassionate care and wants to help older residents live each day with comfort, dignity, and meaningful connection.
You will be part of a values-led team focused on creating a calm, safe, and respectful environment where residents feel heard, supported, and valued.
What you'll do
- Deliver personal care while protecting each resident’s dignity, privacy, and comfort.
- Assist with everyday needs such as washing, mobility, meals, and hydration.
- Monitor residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing and report concerns when needed.
- Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents and their families/whānau.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming setting that supports independence and wellbeing.
- Work from individual care plans and coordinate closely with Registered Nurses to provide consistent care.
- Communicate in a clear, kind, and professional manner with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Follow health, safety, and infection control procedures carefully.
What you'll bring
- At least 1 year of experience in caregiving, aged care, or a similar support role.
- A kind, patient, and respectful approach to caring for older adults.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
- A commitment to resident-centred care, safety, and dignity.
- Willingness to work a rotating roster, including weekends and night shifts.
