Job Overview

As a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer at Seara International based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, you will spearhead the creation, application, and supervision of safety and environmental policies within the food manufacturing sector. This role uniquely combines traditional industrial safety responsibilities with the specific demands of food safety, chemical sanitation, and high-speed packaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing risk assessments such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA) focusing on production activities including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and ergonomic safety.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses by conducting root cause analysis, then implement strategies to mitigate future risks.
  • Develop and provide safety training programs for new employees and conduct specialized sessions on topics like forklift operation and chemical spill management for current staff.
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate HSE practices with food safety protocols, ensuring the use of food-grade personal protective equipment (PPE) to avoid contamination.
  • Manage the safe storage and handling of Clean-In-Place (CIP) chemicals and refrigerants such as Ammonia and carbon dioxide.
  • Oversee proper disposal processes for organic waste, packaging, and hazardous substances in line with environmental legislation.
  • Monitor water consumption and the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) to support sustainability goals.
  • Serve as the main liaison with regulatory authorities like the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and Modon regarding safety and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and systematic audits to uphold full compliance with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) is generally required; OSHA or IOSH certifications are favored.
  • Proven professional experience of 3 to 5 years within manufacturing or FMCG industries.
