Head of System Architecture

As the Head of Systems Architecture, you will be instrumental in guiding the technological framework supporting Australia's payment systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and cultivate a high-performing Systems Architecture team focused on AP+'s payment ecosystems, including NPP, eftpos, and BPAY.
• Define the architectural vision, including target-state architectures, standards, principles, and patterns aligned with corporate business and tech strategies.
• Take end-to-end ownership of solution architecture for complex projects, leading from concept and feasibility through to design, implementation, and production deployment.
• Design secure, resilient, scalable technology solutions that balance strategic business goals with operational excellence and long-term maintainability.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Delivery, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure the successful operational readiness of solutions.
• Engage and influence senior stakeholders and strategic partners by translating technical complexities into clear, strategic options supporting AP+'s payment platform evolution.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Extensive background in Solution and Systems Architecture with demonstrated leadership managing complex technology environments.
• Proven track record in designing and deploying Account-to-Account and card scheme architectures, ideally within payments, banking, or financial services.
• Comprehensive technical knowledge encompassing architecture principles, applications, databases, networks, infrastructure, and DevOps.
• Experience in architecting large-scale systems, adept at assessing architecture alternatives, risks, dependencies, and balancing functional/non-functional requirements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively from executive-level to technical audiences, influencing alignment across teams and partners.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; certifications like TOGAF or Zachman are advantageous.
