Role Overview
This leadership position is accountable for shaping and delivering the company’s network infrastructure direction while keeping network services running at a high standard. The role combines strategy, operations, modernization, automation, security, vendor oversight, and budget ownership to support secure, scalable, and highly available network environments that align with business needs.
Operational Excellence and NOC Leadership
- Take charge of the 24/7 Network Operations Center and ensure monitoring is proactive and incident handling is fast and effective.
- Define, track, and improve SLAs and SLOs for network services on an ongoing basis.
- Guide teams working in demanding, mission-critical settings where uptime expectations are strict.
- Work with internal stakeholders and event planners to turn operational needs into practical technical network solutions.
- Lead major incident response efforts and make sure root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed thoroughly.
Infrastructure Strategy and Modernization
- Create and execute the long-range plan for network infrastructure.
- Architect and implement enterprise-grade network designs across LAN, WAN, data center, and cloud environments.
- Assess and introduce modern technologies such as SD-WAN, WiFi 6E, and SASE where appropriate.
- Drive transformation programs, including retiring older platforms and moving to newer network technologies.
Automation and Continuous Improvement
- Lead automation efforts that reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
- Set up CI/CD workflows and automated change-management practices for network operations.
- Standardize deployment and configuration processes using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
- Encourage innovation and ongoing improvement across engineering and operations teams.
Risk, Security, and Resilience
- Partner with information security teams to apply Zero Trust networking concepts and enterprise firewall controls.
- Maintain alignment with security and compliance standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
- Build and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Regularly test recovery processes and operational resilience measures.
Financial and Vendor Management
- Own annual CAPEX and OPEX planning for network infrastructure.
- Negotiate with ISPs, hardware suppliers, and managed service providers.
- Monitor vendor performance and hold regular business reviews with strategic partners.
- Ensure spending decisions produce clear business value and operational gains.
Experience and Competency Requirements
The role calls for 12 to 15 years of network engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Candidates should have managed large, multi-vendor enterprise networks and have strong practical knowledge of Cisco, Arista, HPE, and related ecosystems. Deep familiarity with global backbone and enterprise networking, hybrid cloud connectivity, data center networking, centralized controllers, software-defined fabrics, routing protocols, overlays, traffic engineering, observability, and performance optimization is expected.
Preferred Certifications
- CCIE certification is mandatory and must be valid.
- CCNP is preferred.
- ITIL Foundation is preferred.
- PMP is preferred.
- Azure Certified Advanced Networking is preferred.
