Head of Human Resources

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned HR executive based in Lilongwe, Malawi, with extensive leadership experience within the corporate or private sector. This pivotal position drives the development and execution of the people strategy, ensuring strong alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive people strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with senior management to offer strategic guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, capability enhancement, and managing people-related risks.
• Lead talent acquisition, succession planning, development, and retention efforts to secure leadership and critical roles.
• Oversee performance management initiatives that cultivate a high-performance culture marked by clear goals, responsibility, and measurable results.
• Manage employee relations, ensuring full compliance with Malawi’s labor laws, company policies, and governance standards.
• Supervise compensation, benefits, payroll, and reward systems with a focus on accuracy, proper controls, and market competitiveness.
• Drive employee engagement, organizational development, culture transformation, and change management initiatives throughout the company.
• Utilize HR data analytics and systems to detect trends, generate insights, and empower data-driven decision-making.
• Lead the People team to efficiently meet both strategic and operational HR objectives.
• Administer key support functions including office facilities and fleet management.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a relevant degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or similar fields.
• At least 10 years of relevant HR experience, including a minimum of 3 years in senior HR leadership roles.
• Comprehensive understanding and practical use of Malawi’s employment and labor laws, employee relations, and HR compliance frameworks.
• Proven track record within large corporate or multinational organizations, working effectively alongside senior and executive leadership.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, organizational abilities, stakeholder management, and proficiency with HR information systems focused on achieving measurable personnel outcomes.
