Role Summary
The position of Head of Government Relations is a full-time hybrid role situated in the United Kingdom, requiring both on-site presence in Sefton and flexible remote work. This role entails designing and executing government relations strategies, fostering strong connections with government entities at national and local levels, and staying informed about legislative and regulatory changes impacting attraction and theme park operations.
Typical responsibilities include engaging with policymakers, crafting briefing documents and position statements, organizing lobbying efforts, and representing the company in consultations, hearings, and sector forums. Collaboration with senior leaders and internal teams ensures alignment between corporate goals and public policy. Additionally, the role supports risk mitigation and regulatory compliance by proactively engaging with governmental frameworks.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven expertise in government relations and public affairs, with a capacity to devise and implement strategic engagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated history of effective lobbying and stakeholder relationship management with policymakers, regulators, and community stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of UK legislative and regulatory procedures, especially related to leisure, tourism, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities, including skillful drafting of policy briefs, reports, and advocacy materials.
- Experience of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and senior executives in dynamic, growth-oriented environments.
- Educational qualifications in public policy, law, political science, business, or relevant fields, or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferably prior background in government, public affairs, or industry bodies, particularly in attractions, tourism, or entertainment sectors.
- Proven ability to manage responsibilities successfully within a hybrid work setting, balancing onsite and remote engagement while maintaining professional relationships.
