Role Overview

As Gallagher expands, our Information Systems team grows to enhance capability and support global ambitions. This role offers a unique chance to influence the trajectory of enterprise technology in a multifaceted international organization.

The Head of Applications & Engineering will lead the strategic direction, execution, and advancement of Gallagher's enterprise application ecosystem and engineering team. You will manage a wide-ranging portfolio including SAP ERP, enterprise software, customer and commerce platforms, integration solutions, as well as oversee internal and external software engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and maintaining these systems.

Your leadership will emphasize an engineering ethos rooted in quality, innovation, and relentless improvement. Ensuring our applications are robust, scalable, and closely aligned with business objectives will be central. You will spearhead initiatives to develop new digital capabilities that align with future growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Head Gallagher's enterprise applications suite, maintaining its security, modernity, reliability, and alignment with business objectives
• Guide the strategy and continuous improvement of SAP ERP and critical business platforms
• Develop a high-performing engineering organization prioritizing contemporary development methodologies, advancing DevOps maturity, and fostering continuous enhancement
• Manage delivery of customer-centric platforms, digital solutions, and system integration services
• Balance operational excellence with transformative technology programs and significant strategic initiatives
• Lead, mentor, and motivate multidisciplinary teams spanning engineering, applications, and delivery functions
• Collaborate with senior leadership to convert business strategies into technology outcomes that provide sustained value

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive leadership experience in enterprise applications, software engineering, or digital technology within complex organizations
• Proficient with ERP and enterprise application environments; familiarity with SAP ECC and S4/HANA preferred
• Demonstrated success in leading large, cross-functional technology teams
• Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, cloud computing platforms, integrations, and enterprise architecture
• Experience managing the balance between operational support and strategic transformation technology efforts
• Strong commercial awareness including effective vendor and partner relationship management
• Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
