About MoveSmart Rentals
MoveSmart Rentals is a comprehensive leasing service powered by proprietary technology that assists landlords in leasing properties faster by minimizing vacancies and screening applicants. They distribute rental listings across the MLS and over 20 other platforms, managing the process from listing to move-in.
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Handyworker to attend to residential rental homes, conduct listing-readiness inspections, execute general repairs, install lockboxes, capture photographic and video documentation, and note any additional work necessary before properties are listed, showcased, leased, or prepared for move-in.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit residential rental properties for inspections, access verifications, approved repair work, and move-in preparations.
- Assess the overall state of properties and document recommended repairs or enhancements impacting listing, showings, or move-in condition.
- Capture clear photos and videos of the property, lockboxes, repairs, and any concerns relevant to leasing.
- Install lockboxes and verify access protocols.
- Perform general handyman repairs and light property readiness tasks.
- Develop or suggest additional work orders for further repairs or improvements.
- Return to properties to complete authorized work orders prior to listing, showings, lease completion, or move-in.
- Provide detailed updates, including notes, photos, and videos, confirming completed tasks.
- Maintain professional communication with landlords, applicants, tenants (if applicable), and internal team members.
- Identify situations requiring licensed trade professionals and escalate appropriately.
- General maintenance activities may include drywall patching, caulking, painting touch-ups, repairs to doors, locks, hinges, cabinets, minor plumbing fixes, fixture installation, trim and flooring repairs, lockbox setup, and property condition assessments.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior experience as a handyworker, maintenance technician, contractor, or comparable role.
- Solid understanding of residential repairs, rental turnovers, and property readiness standards.
- Reliable means of transportation.
- Possession of necessary tools for on-site work and a ladder.
- Smartphone (iPhone 13 or equivalent) with high-quality camera for capturing property documentation.
- Ability to take clear photos and videos, compose precise notes, and provide thorough visit updates.
- Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
- Professionalism, punctuality, reliability, attention to detail, and respectful communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with rental property turnover repairs.
- Familiarity with preparing properties for photos, showings, inspections, or move-in.
- Experience installing lockboxes and managing property access details.
- Comfortable working inside both occupied and vacant residential rentals.
- Background supporting leasing, property management, maintenance, or related residential service operations.

- Reliable transportation and full toolset availability during job hours.
- Ladder availability for on-site use.
- Smartphone equipped with high-resolution camera.
- Ability to travel among various residential rental locations.
- Capable of submitting clear reports with photos, videos, and notes immediately after tasks.
