Handyperson

About the Role

We are excited to welcome a dedicated Handyperson to join our dedicated Older Persons team serving sheltered accommodation properties across Durham and Wearside. In this permanent, full-time position, you'll provide practical, multi-skilled support across nine locations, playing a key role in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

Responsibilities

• Conduct minor and urgent repairs, including decorating and cleaning communal and residential properties.
• Complete tasks such as installing curtain poles, moving furniture, painting touch-ups, replacing washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns, and general grounds upkeep.
• Perform routine fire safety inspections.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and customers to ensure maintenance needs are met.
• Coordinate with the Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and track repairs that fall outside your scope.

Requirements & Skills

• Demonstrated general maintenance abilities, including carpentry, basic plumbing, and painting skills.
• A positive, proactive team player attitude.
• Strong communication skills to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Competency with technology for updating records, training compliance, emailing, and photographic documentation.
• Access to reliable transportation insured for business use (a company vehicle will be provided).
• Standard DBS check clearance (cost covered by the employer).

Working Conditions & Location

• Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (37.5 hours per week), with potential flexibility to meet customer needs.
• Primary base at Clarence Court, Spennymoor, with travel around local properties mainly in Durham and Sunderland, occasionally beyond this area as needed.
