About the Role
Republic Bangla, part of Republic Media Network, is seeking a Guest Relations Coordinator based in Kolkata to facilitate guest management for live broadcasts including debates, interviews, and special news segments. This role requires someone communicative and well-networked within the political, social, and media spheres to maintain smooth guest coordination in a dynamic newsroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate guests for live debates, interviews, and special news programs effectively.
- Establish and nurture connections with politicians, government representatives, celebrities, experts, activists, and leaders across sectors.
- Collaborate with PR firms, corporate communications units, government offices, and media contacts to ensure guest availability as per schedules.
- Work closely with editorial, input, output, production, and PCR teams to understand daily guest requirements and updates.
- Maintain and update a detailed database of guests including accurate contact information.
- Organize backup guests and manage last-minute changes to guarantee program continuity.
- Brief guests comprehensively on topics, schedules, technical needs, and participation protocols whether on-site or virtual.
- Provide professional guest support before, during, and after live programs for optimal experience.
- Monitor confirmations, follow-ups, and coordinate daily logistics related to guest management.
- Keep abreast of current affairs to propose relevant guests for ongoing news stories.
Candidate Eligibility and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, or equivalent fields.
- Relevant past experience in guest relations, editorial coordination, media or public relations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with proficient relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, 24/7 newsroom environment with multitasking and problem-solving skills.
- Preferred: experience working in television news or digital news platforms.
- Good network and contacts within media, political, government, business, and public affairs sectors.
- Familiarity with current affairs and news landscape specific to West Bengal is advantageous.
