Job description
Role Overview
Join Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team as a pivotal member managing government relations across regions and product lines. This role involves leading campaigns and initiatives to influence policy shaping technology's future. You will act as a liaison, translating external insights into internal strategy and steering complex projects to fruition in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Marketing, Trust and Safety, and Public Relations teams to embed public policy priorities into product strategy and regional rollouts.
- Act as Google's representative before government officials, industry groups, and thought leaders to influence policy discussions around responsible technology use.
- Conduct continuous monitoring, research, and assessment of regional policy developments to steer advocacy efforts.
- Design and implement advocacy campaigns with defined, actionable objectives aligned with Google's interests.
- Anticipate legislative trends, assess their impact on Google's business and users, and develop strategic proactive responses.
- Communicate complex technical policy issues clearly to external audiences and keep internal teams informed of political and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of experience in policy analysis and advocacy related to technology sectors or their regulatory frameworks.
- Seven or more years working within governments, think tanks, advocacy organizations, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy teams.
- Fluency in Arabic and English to effectively manage client relationships within the region.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, International Relations, Law, or a relevant technical field.
- Proven ability to perform well in high-pressure environments, making sound decisions during crises.
- Experience integrating public policy with business strategies and corporate development goals.
- Capability to independently lead large-scale projects to successful completion.
- Track record of leading advocacy campaigns and representing organizations before senior policymakers.
- Strong networking, government relations, investigative, political, and communication skills.
