About the Role
The History of Science Museum is seeking Gallery Assistants to provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for visitors. In this role, you will be the approachable face of the museum, assisting guests with inquiries, sharing informative details, and enhancing their overall experience.
Day-to-day duties involve maintaining the safety and smooth operation of the galleries, preparing exhibition spaces, supporting events, and encouraging visitor donations. Occasionally, you may assist in the museum shop.
Working Hours & Contract
- There are two part-time, fixed-term positions available until December 31, 2027.
- Post 1 requires 26.32 hours per week (0.72 Full-Time Equivalent).
- Post 2 offers a variable schedule with fluctuating weekly hours.
- Shift times will be arranged during the interview, taking place between Tuesday and Sunday according to museum opening times.
Additional Requirements
Successful applicants must complete a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Location & Compensation
- Position is based at the History of Science Museum, Broad Street, Oxford OX1 3AZ.
- Grade level is 1.6, with a salary equivalent to £26,686 annually, payable pro rata based on hours worked.
