Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative Freelance Video Editor to join our team. The role involves crafting video content that enhances HGM's presence and supports our podcast projects. Candidates should be versatile professionals, comfortable both with storytelling through edits and with creating polished motion graphics. Additional responsibilities include assisting with technical aspects of video shoots and virtual recordings.

Role Details

• Part-time, hourly engagement
• Approximately 12–15 weekly hours
• Opportunity for more hours depending on project availability
• Compensation rate of $25 per hour
• Flexible scheduling with dependable communication and adherence to deadlines
• Primarily remote work, with occasional in-person tasks in the New York City vicinity or agreed locations as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Manage video editing projects from initial footage organization to finished edits
• Create rough cuts and refine footage into polished final videos
• Design titles, motion graphics, and animations to enhance visual storytelling
• Perform color grading, audio cleaning, and general sound mixing
• Prepare and export video content optimized for multiple platforms and formats
• Participate in occasional onsite video shoots when necessary
• Assist with managing virtual recording sessions
• Support technical production elements including camera, lighting, and audio needs
• Collaborate on creative direction and offer insightful visual suggestions
• Maintain clear communication regarding timelines, revisions, and deliverable expectations

Required Qualifications

• Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud suite
• Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Comprehensive knowledge of video production and post-production processes
• Technical experience with cameras, lighting setup, composition, and audio production
• Keen eye for visual design, pacing, typography, and narrative construction
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to occasionally commute to and work in the NYC area as needed
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on interview-style, podcast, social media, branded, or documentary video content
