About the Role and Company
This opportunity is for experienced Chief Financial Officers or Finance Directors seeking an alternative to traditional corporate roles. Whether you're a seasoned CFO who's already transitioned to independent work, or a CFO aiming for better work-life balance, this position offers flexibility and autonomy. You will deliver CFO services to ambitious private companies with revenues between £2 million and £50 million, assisting their leaders to achieve strategic milestones.
The CFO Centre UK is a leading global provider of part-time CFO and Finance Director services tailored for medium-sized businesses that neither require nor can afford a full-time CFO but desire access to high-caliber financial expertise on a part-time basis. Operating across the UK and Ireland with over 700 professionals worldwide, the organisation supports a portfolio career approach within a supportive network.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage your own portfolio of client businesses across Dublin, Cork, and Belfast areas.
- Provide strategic financial leadership and advisory services to business owners, entrepreneurs, CEOs, and managing directors.
- Help clients identify and focus on the critical financial metrics that drive their business growth, acquisitions, consolidation, or lifestyle goals.
- Work closely with regional leadership and a network of CFOs to deliver tailored financial strategies and outcomes.
- Engage proactively with clients to create lasting, trust-based relationships combining advisory, strategic planning, and operational support.
Requirements
- Professional qualification from a major UK chartered accounting institute.
- Proven direct experience as a CFO or Finance Director with strong commercial finance acumen and a strategic mindset.
- Demonstrated success delivering financial and business strategy outcomes in private mid-sized companies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build authentic, long-term client relationships.
- A self-driven individual with ambition, energy, and a passion to make significant impacts on client businesses.
- Comfortable working within a defined model while exercising autonomy in service delivery.
Additional Information
The role is self-employed and contract-based, centered on autonomy balanced with access to a collaborative, supportive network of CFO professionals. This position supports working parents or those desiring flexible working arrangements. The environment values a family-oriented culture where people are treated like valued members rather than just numbers.
Joining The CFO Centre means becoming part of a highly experienced team of executives and business leaders dedicated to transforming mid-tier businesses globally. The role provides variety, challenge, and the opportunity to grow your portfolio of clients across multiple industries.
