The Finance Analyst position in the Western Canada District acts as the primary financial liaison at the project level, collaborating closely with project and district management to provide accurate financial insights. Responsibilities include analyzing construction job cost data, managing budgets, forecasting, revenue recognition, and overseeing the training and supervision of project business personnel.
Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Kiewit's Western Canada District specializes in heavy civil projects such as earth moving, transportation infrastructure, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities along Canada's West Coast.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project forecast reviews applying historical and trending data consistent with company cost and revenue reporting standards
- Support operational decision-making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities
- Manage employee performance through clear role division, communication of goals, coaching, and honest feedback
- Prepare client invoicing, manage accounts receivables and revenue, and review monthly cash flow projections
- Interpret prime contracts and change orders, including insurance, tax, payment terms, and labor regulations
- Enforce internal controls and act as the primary liaison for financial audits both internal and external
- Champion continuous improvement and advocate for positive organizational change
- Build trust and credibility to foster cohesion and clear communication with operations teams
- Develop a deep understanding of field operations to enhance financial reporting and data communication
- Demonstrate superior customer service skills with a positive and helpful attitude
Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in financial or data analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Accounting knowledge, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and V-Lookups
- Experience with complex ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle for financial reporting and forecasting
- Use of data visualization tools like Power BI for presenting complex financial analysis
- Strong oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- High work ethic and dedication to producing quality results
- Willingness to travel and relocate as required

Compensation and Benefits
The salary ranges from $80,000 to $93,000 annually, with the total package varying based on factors such as education, experience, expertise, and location.
