Executive Director, Strategy

Role overview

This senior leadership position is focused on guiding the organization’s long-term strategy, transformation agenda, and performance system. The role is designed for a forward-thinking executive who can help steer sustainable growth, strengthen institutional excellence, and support priorities aligned with Qatar Vision 2030.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting strategic direction, driving enterprise-wide change, improving organizational performance, and ensuring that critical initiatives are delivered effectively across the business.

Key accountabilities

• Direct the creation, rollout, and ongoing review of the organization’s corporate strategy and long-range strategic priorities.
• Make sure business goals remain aligned with the wider aspirations of Qatar Vision 2030.
• Lead transformation programs that improve efficiency, effectiveness, innovation, and long-term sustainability.
• Design and manage organization-wide performance management and accountability structures.
• Oversee strategic planning cycles and convert strategic goals into clear, measurable outcomes.
• Advise executive leadership on trends, opportunities, risks, and challenges that may affect the organization.
• Spot growth opportunities, partnerships, and initiatives that can strengthen future success.
• Promote a strong culture of accountability, disciplined execution, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Supervise the preparation of executive reports, business cases, strategic studies, and performance dashboards.
• Ensure strategic initiatives and organizational performance are governed, tracked, and reported effectively.

Qualifications and experience

The position calls for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field. A Master’s degree, such as an MBA or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.

A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience is required in strategy, transformation, corporate planning, consulting, or organizational development. The ideal candidate should have a strong history of leading enterprise-level strategy and transformation efforts, along with a solid grasp of strategic planning, performance management, governance, and accountability frameworks.
