Role summary

This full-time remote Estimator position focuses on building accurate cost estimates for carpet and flooring jobs. The role includes reviewing drawings, specifications, and customer needs, taking measurements with digital tools, and working out material and labour requirements. You will prepare detailed proposals, keep pricing information up to date, coordinate with sales and installation teams, and clarify scope details with customers. The role also requires monitoring project changes, adjusting estimates when needed, and making sure quotations follow company standards and target profit margins. You will work independently from a remote setting while staying in regular virtual contact with the wider team.

Key duties

• Examine plans, specifications, and customer briefs to prepare reliable project estimates.
• Measure spaces using digital measurement and takeoff tools.
• Calculate the quantity of materials and labour required for each job.
• Draft clear, detailed quotations and proposals.
• Maintain and update pricing records and estimating databases.
• Communicate with sales, installation, suppliers, and customers to confirm scope and resolve queries.
• Track revisions, update estimates, and ensure all quotes remain accurate and compliant with company margins and standards.
• Manage work independently in a remote environment while keeping the team informed.

Qualifications

• Background in estimation or quotation work within construction, flooring, interiors, or a related area, along with solid numerical and analytical ability.
• Capability to read floor plans, dimensions, and project specifications, and to use digital measuring and takeoff software.
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, organisation, and record-keeping habits for documentation and data entry.
• Comfort using spreadsheets, CRM systems, and estimating tools in a technology-led remote setup.
• Good written and spoken communication skills for professional interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Ability to juggle several projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
• Familiarity with carpet and flooring products, installation methods, and related terminology is an advantage, though not mandatory.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; further study or training in construction, estimating, or business is beneficial.
