Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team in Telford, England. This role is crucial in delivering winning bids by producing precise, comprehensive, and competitive cost estimates for structural repair and specialist construction projects. Your work will help transform business opportunities into successful and profitable outcomes while collaborating closely with multiple internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to accurately define project scope and identify risks or opportunities.
• Seek clarifications or additional information as necessary to ensure thorough tender assessment.
• Conduct site visits to understand logistical constraints, methods, and potential risks affecting delivery.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including conceptual, budget, and fixed-price formats covering labour, materials, plant, subcontractor works, and methodologies.
• Collaborate with Operations to align work programs, rates, and package allocations; request and evaluate subcontractor quotations to ensure robust comparisons.
• Maintain bid and risk registers, ensuring all assumptions and inclusions/exclusions are clearly documented.
• Engage regularly with HSQE, Technical Solutions, Operations, and Commercial teams to align estimates with safe and viable delivery strategies.
• Coordinate tender launches, mid-bid reviews, and final settlement meetings to support contract negotiations with re-pricing and contract data provision.
• Ensure governance standards are met throughout the bid lifecycle, producing high-quality submission materials such as offer letters, activity schedules, and bills of quantity.
• Keep clear, audit-ready records for all estimates and assumptions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to support business development and identify new sales opportunities.

Candidate Profile and Experience

• Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant construction discipline is preferred.
• Proven experience developing business within structural repair and specialist construction sectors is essential.
• Hands-on knowledge in several of the following areas is highly valued: Bridge Repairs, Concrete Repairs, Cathodic Protection, Structural Strengthening, External Building Refurbishment, Jacking & Propping, Bearing Replacement, Carbon Fibre Strengthening, and Post Tensioning Systems.
• Operational or project management experience in construction is advantageous.
• Well-established industry connections within the construction sector.
