About the Role
Join a collaborative environment working closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Clients to create precise and commercially viable cost estimates tuned to project needs. The role supports the enhancement of estimating standards and offers assistance to team members throughout the estimating function.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates derived from design information and defined project scopes.
- Examine technical documents, drawings, and plans to determine cost factors and potential project risks.
- Assess underlying assumptions in estimates and identify financial risks and opportunities affecting project budget and costs.
- Generate, review, and finalize pricing and unit rates per current market standards and project specifics.
- Gather and verify supplier, subcontractor, and database pricing data.
- Analyze past cost records and benchmarking data to recognize major cost deviations and trends.
- Create material quantity take-offs from engineering documentation.
- Inspect contract documents to understand scope and financial impact of potential changes.
- Engage regularly with clients and internal teams to clarify scope and ensure precise cost representation.
- Support project reports by documenting estimate changes clearly and explaining cost variations.
- Present comprehensive estimating outcomes and financial evaluations to stakeholders including management and clients.
- Mentor junior and intermediate estimators as needed.
- Drive continuous enhancements in estimating processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Undertake supplementary duties contributing to successful project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Bring at least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in cost estimation, including multidisciplinary projects.
- Demonstrate significant expertise in pre-contract estimation for large-scale infrastructure, energy, industrial, or commercial building projects.
- Proficient with estimating software and cost database tools such as CostX, Candy, Causeway, or similar.
- Capable of interpreting complex technical and engineering documentation to produce accurate cost projections.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication.
- Experience collaborating directly with clients and managing stakeholder relations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hold professional certifications like MRICS, AACE International, ACostE, or other internationally recognised credentials.
- Experience with BIM-assisted estimating, digital estimation platforms, and data-centric cost estimation approaches.
- Familiarity with international project environments, including EPC and EPCM project knowledge, is advantageous.
