About the Role
A leading multi-strategy hedge fund managing over $15 billion is expanding its investment team based in Midtown Manhattan, seeking a Utilities Equity Research Analyst to join an established Portfolio Manager's group. This is a growth-driven position supporting a US-focused Energy strategy, covering traditional energy sectors including utilities and midstream investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-depth fundamental research within the Utilities sector.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive operating and valuation financial models.
- Generate unique long and short investment ideas based on thorough analysis.
- Evaluate regulatory changes, power market trends, rate cases, and overall industry dynamics.
- Conduct channel checks, expert interviews, and extensive sector research.
- Track earnings reports, catalysts, and significant company developments in the coverage universe.
- Collaborate closely with the Portfolio Manager and analyst team to guide portfolio strategy and manage risks.
- Present investment insights and recommendations directly to senior leadership.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in Utilities equity coverage.
- Preference for candidates with buy-side experience, especially in long/short equity environments; high-performing sell-side Utilities analysts will also be considered.
- A strong demonstrated interest and solid expertise in Utilities and related energy sectors.
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Ability to think independently and develop unique investment perspectives.
- Commercially aware with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Thrives in a dynamic, results-driven investment culture.
