About the Role

Active Institute NZ is looking for a committed General English and ESOL Tutor to assist students from various cultural backgrounds in enhancing their English language capabilities. The tutor will create and deliver dynamic, student-focused lessons tailored to diverse skill levels, aimed at boosting proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and teach English language lessons suitable for learners with different abilities and backgrounds.
• Create and modify teaching materials to meet specific learning preferences and needs.
• Track and evaluate student performance regularly, offering constructive feedback to support improvement.
• Promote a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Keep detailed attendance records and document learner progress accurately.
• Communicate effectively across different cultures and communities.

Requirements

• Must hold New Zealand residency or citizenship.
• Possess recognized certification or qualification in adult teaching.
• Demonstrated experience teaching English or ESOL in classroom settings.
• Ability to develop educational content and adapt resources for various learners.
• Maintain a clean police record; background verification will be required.
• Provide references from previous employers or professional contacts.
