Role overview
The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking an Engineering Draftsperson to join the Operational Technology and Engineering (OTE) Section in Melbourne. This team is responsible for supporting the development, delivery, and operation of measurement equipment and systems so they align with the Bureau’s performance and functional needs.
The wider OTE Section brings together engineers and technical specialists who design and support solutions across a broad mix of technologies, including radars, rainfall stations, drifting buoys, dedicated observations, satellites, and ships at sea. The work also includes level three maintenance support across these platforms.
Team and reporting line
This position sits within the Systems Engineering and Quality Assurance (SE&QA) team, which also contains a Drafting Office and provides specialist advice and services across the networks managed by the Bureau. The role reports to the Lead Engineering Draftsperson.
What you will do
You will help ensure the Bureau’s current and future network requirements are met by creating detailed 3D models of equipment and preparing fully dimensioned drawings ready for fabrication and installation.
You will also work in a collaborative and adaptable team setting, partnering with scientific, engineering, and technical colleagues to deliver outputs that meet ISO and Australian standards.
