Overview

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte's Facilities Management department seeks a dedicated Energy Engineer to lead energy management efforts, analyze utility data, and promote efficiency across campus buildings.   • Leverage building automation system (BAS) data and analytic tools to enhance building performance and identify system faults.
  • Support commissioning and re-commissioning projects ensuring optimal system functionality.
  • Assist in planning, prioritizing, and implementing energy-saving projects, evaluating their return on investment.
  • Review designs for new constructions or renovations to ensure energy-efficient standards are met.
  • Collaborate on campus-wide energy and sustainability initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices relevant to energy management.
  • Support long-term infrastructure and capital planning efforts to enhance sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • At least three years of professional experience in energy engineering, facility operations, commissioning, or building performance analysis, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, control mechanisms, energy efficiency, and building operations.
  • Experience with energy data analysis, benchmarking, and reporting tools.
