About the Role
The Design Engineer will lead the design and development of centrifugal pumps and advanced technology products, adhering to industry, government, and customer requirements. The engineer will prepare detailed engineering drawings, coordinate with drafting teams to ensure timely documentation, and maintain engineering data within PDM systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Create proposals and detailed engineering drawings for centrifugal pumps and specialized products.
- Design new pump products in accordance with customer and regulatory specifications.
- Review and authorize component drawings related to new developments.
- Collaborate with drafting teams for prompt release of engineering documentation.
- Conduct design calculations focusing on cost efficiency and generate comprehensive technical reports.
- Provide technical assistance to Marketing, Manufacturing, and Vendor Development departments.
- Apply and review compliance with standards such as ASME, DIN, and PTC.
- Support customer engagements through technical discussions and assist in drawing/document approvals.
- Develop 3D models and assemblies using CAD tools for new product innovation.
- Maintain and update engineering documentation within Windchill or similar PDM systems.
- Prepare technical presentations and thorough project documentation.
- Adhere to quality management processes including ISO standards, 5S methodology, and engineering best practices.
- Ensure all deliverables meet organizational quality and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven expertise in centrifugal pump design and development.
- Competence with AutoCAD (2D) and Creo (3D modeling).
- Skilled in engineering calculations and validation of designs.
- Understanding of engineering standards such as ASME, DIN, and PTC.
- Experience in new product development processes.
- Strong analytical aptitude, communication abilities, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience
- Background in industrial pumps, rotating machinery, or fluid handling equipment.
- Experience contributing to government projects and custom engineering solutions.
- Familiarity with manufacturing support and vendor relations.
- Knowledge of PLM/PDM software like Windchill.
